🛩️ 3D Mercury Fixed-Wing RC Magic Board Plane
This was the first item that caught my eye because of its sleek aerobatic design and the promise of “next-level” RC flying. I’ve been gradually moving up from toy-grade to hobby-grade aircraft, and this DIY kit felt like a solid step forward.
Delivery took just under 2 weeks to the Midwest US — faster than expected. Packaging was decent, though a few of the foam pieces were slightly bent (nothing that couldn’t be fixed with light heat and patience).
Experience-wise, this plane is wild — super agile, great for performing 3D tricks, and surprisingly resilient despite being foam. I had to assemble quite a bit, but the manual (while sparse) was enough for anyone familiar with RC builds. Not for total beginners, but manageable with YouTube help.
Pros:
-
Lightweight, tough EPP foam
-
Very responsive in flight
-
Good value for a DIY aerobatic RC
Cons: – Manual is pretty basic – Needs experience to fly properly
In the US, similar kits go for $80–$120, and this one came in at about half that, so definitely budget-friendly. Overall, it exceeded my expectations for the price.
US $42.18

🛩️ 330 RC Fixed-Wing Mercury Plane Kit
This one is essentially the upgraded twin to the 3D Mercury, so I picked it up to see the difference. The flight dynamics are slightly more refined — more stable and controlled loops, especially with better CG balance.
Delivery and packaging were on par with the first one — arrived within 12 days and in solid shape.
What I liked most was that the parts quality was marginally better than the other Mercury. The control surfaces are more rigid and the included hardware (push rods, hinges) felt more precise.
Pros:
-
Smooth 3D aerobatics
-
Better hardware than expected
-
Still super affordable
Cons: – Still needs moderate RC experience – Same limited documentation
This version retails online in the US for about $110+, but on AliExpress, I snagged it for under $55. A crazy good deal if you’re building a 3D fleet.
US $7.03

🛩️ J3-CUB WLtoys A160 Park10 RC Plane
I’ve always had a soft spot for the J3-Cub look — it’s such a classic. I grabbed this one as an RTF option for more casual flying.
Shipping took 15 days. Out of the box, I was honestly shocked by how polished it looked. Setup was fast — charge the battery, bind the transmitter, and you’re good to go.
In flight, this bird is incredibly stable thanks to the 3D/6G gyro system. It’s a joy to cruise in 6G mode, and with a flip of a switch, you can pull light aerobatics in 3D mode.
Pros:
-
True beginner-friendly
-
Gorgeous scale look
-
Smooth takeoffs and landings
Cons: – Battery life could be longer (around 10 mins) – The landing gear is a bit flimsy
For $65 shipped, it’s way cheaper than the US equivalents (usually $120–$140). Great bang for the buck.
US $80.98

🛩️ Park10 P707G 3CH RC Cessna-Style Plane
Grabbed this one as a gift for a friend new to flying. It’s a 3CH design, meaning it’s ultra-simple and forgiving — perfect for first flights.
Delivery was quick — 10 days. The Cessna-style look is charming, and the materials are beginner-safe EPP.
The 3D/6G gyroscope really helps prevent crashes. The transmitter is super basic but functional. It flies slow and steady, which is what you want for a trainer.
Pros:
-
Very beginner-friendly
-
Decent flight time (12+ mins)
-
Survives rough landings
Cons: – No ailerons (3CH only) limits maneuverability – Slight delay in throttle response
Comparable US options range from $80 to $100 — this one was $48. Solid gift for someone learning to fly.
US $45.51

🛩️ Radiolink A560 4CH RC Airplane RTF Kit
I bought this as my “flagship” flyer. I wanted something that could do both trainer-level flights and advanced stunts. With 4km range and 6 fly modes, this is easily the most feature-rich one I’ve tried so far.
Shipping was slower — took around 18 days. But worth it. The packaging was superb. Everything from the BYME-A gyro to the remote feels premium.
Flying this is a dream. The stabilization is rock-solid in assisted modes, and you can crank it up to full manual for loops, rolls, and fast dives.
Pros:
-
Long control range
-
Excellent flight stabilization
-
Great build quality
Cons: – Higher price (~$120) – Needs calibration out of the box
It’s still $40 cheaper than US kits with similar tech. Definitely a keeper in my RC fleet.
US $169.99

🛩️ WLtoys XK A220 Stunt RC Plane
I got this mainly for the 6-axis stability system and the sporty look. I expected it to be a fun backyard stunt flyer — and that’s exactly what it is.
Arrived in 14 days. The packaging was okay but could’ve used more internal padding.
Flight performance is surprisingly agile. You can toggle between assisted and manual easily. It’s not as fast as it looks, but that makes it less intimidating.
Pros:
-
Agile for its size
-
Great for stunt practice
-
Simple setup
Cons: – Short battery life – Could be better packed
At $58, it’s a great mid-range flyer. US versions with similar features easily cost $90+.
US $54.78

🛩️ Qidi560 Moore M7 3D Foam Plane
I bought this one on a whim — I liked the LED lights and the design, and it promised brushless motor power and 3D aerobatics. Definitely more of a nighttime flyer.
Shipping was lightning fast — 9 days. The LEDs are seriously bright, and it looks awesome during twilight flights. The brushless motor gives it a nice punch off the line.
It needs tuning, though — the factory throws were too wide. After some tweaks, it flew beautifully.
Pros:
-
Bright LED lights
-
Brushless power
-
Fun for night flying
Cons: – Needs tuning before flying – Basic transmitter
For $60, it’s better than a lot of beginner brushless planes sold for $110+ in local stores.
US $56.66

🛩️ WLtoys F22S Raptor 3CH Warplane
I picked this purely for looks — I mean, who doesn’t want a tiny RC F22 Raptor with lights?
Came in just under 2 weeks. Lightweight and super stable thanks to the gyroscope and 3D6G mode. It’s clearly for beginners, but I was impressed by how well it handled wind for its size.
Looks fantastic in the air, especially with the LEDs on.
Pros:
-
Great scale look
-
Very stable
-
Cool LED light show
Cons: – Short flight time (~8 mins) – Feels more toy-grade than hobby-grade
At $42, it’s a fun entry-level RC warplane. Way better than $75 toy-grade planes I’ve seen in US big box stores.
US $45.25
Final Thoughts
I didn’t expect to be this impressed with these RC planes from AliExpress. Most of them performed better than expected, especially given the price points. Yes, some needed tuning, and a couple had basic manuals, but the value is hard to beat. The delivery was faster than I imagined, and every item arrived in flyable condition.
Would I recommend these? Absolutely — especially for hobbyists on a budget. And yes, I’m already eyeing a few more planes to order soon.
