🔹 ANBERNIC RG406V — Compact Retro Android Console with 1080p Output
I picked the RG406V mainly because I was searching for a vertical-style handheld that could handle Android games and emulators smoothly. The idea of a compact console with a 4-inch multi-touch IPS screen, powered by Android 13 and supporting 1080p output, really caught my eye. It felt like a modern twist on a Game Boy, but with way more horsepower.
My impressions after a few weeks: this thing seriously exceeded expectations. The form factor is very pocket-friendly without feeling cramped, and the dual analog sticks with hall-effect sensors are buttery smooth. Emulation runs great for PS1, Dreamcast, and even some GameCube titles. The Android UI takes a bit of tweaking, but once set up, it’s like having a mini entertainment center in your palm.

🔹 ANBERNIC RG406H — Ergonomic Beast with 3D Joysticks
I got the RG406H because I wanted a more horizontal grip for extended gaming sessions. It’s basically the sibling of the RG406V, but with a traditional horizontal layout and full-sized triggers. What pulled me in was the promise of a 4″ IPS screen, Android 13, and those lovely hall-sensor joysticks.
In real use, the console feels very premium in hand. The weight is well-balanced, and the slightly larger grip areas make marathon sessions a lot more comfortable. I loaded up my favorite retro emulators and the performance was stellar. The system updates via FOTA also keep it fresh without having to tinker too much.

🔹 ANBERNIC RG505 — OLED Glory with T618 Chip
The RG505 stood out because of its massive 4.95″ OLED screen and the Unisoc T618 chipset. I was curious how the OLED panel would hold up in a handheld gaming context — spoiler alert: it’s amazing.
The colors pop, blacks are deep, and retro games just shine on this display. I played some GBA and SNES titles, and they’ve never looked better. Android 12 runs pretty well, and I love that it came with a 128GB card pre-loaded with thousands of games. It’s like plug and play nostalgia.

🔹 ANBERNIC RG353V — Linux & Android Dual Boot in a Tiny Body
The RG353V was my choice for a more open-source gaming experience. I loved that it runs both Android and Linux — so you get the best of both worlds depending on your mood.
I bought it mostly for retro console emulation — NES to PSP. It performs beautifully with a 3.5″ IPS screen, and I was surprised by how sharp and vibrant it looks, despite being a lower resolution than the RG505. Also, HDMI output works great for plugging into a TV — bonus!

🔹 Retroid Pocket 5 — Flagship-Level Android Retro Power
I’ve been eyeing the Retroid Pocket 5 for a while and finally pulled the trigger. With its Snapdragon 865, 5.5″ OLED screen, and Android 13, this thing is a BEAST. I picked it because I wanted something closer to a gaming phone, but fully dedicated to retro and mobile gaming.
This console absolutely rocks. It handled everything I threw at it — PS2, GameCube, even some Wii. The Bluetooth 5.1 makes pairing controllers and headphones a breeze. Build quality feels like a premium mobile device, and the OLED panel is bright, crisp, and responsive.

The RG556 is one of the newer models and I was intrigued by the 5.48” AMOLED screen and the upgraded build. Android 13, 1080×1920 resolution, and a sleek design made this hard to resist.
Performance-wise, it holds up to everything from SNES to Dreamcast and PSP flawlessly. The screen is ridiculously nice — deep blacks, high contrast, and perfect for watching videos too. Controls are responsive, and the system feels snappy. It’s like a hybrid between a dedicated console and a mini tablet.

Overall Verdict: I honestly went into this AliExpress haul expecting a mixed bag. What I got instead were six handheld consoles that each brought something special to the table — solid performance, premium displays, long battery life, and excellent build quality. The shipping was smoother than expected (averaged around 12–14 days), packaging was clean, and all devices arrived without damage.
Would I recommend these consoles? Absolutely. I already have a few friends eyeing my RG505 and Retroid Pocket 5 after testing them out. Planning my next AliExpress gaming splurge soon — maybe something with a mini Steam Deck vibe.
