⚙️ RP2040-Zero Microcontroller Board (10PCS Pack)

I picked up this 10-pack of RP2040-Zero boards for a few DIY automation projects and sensor prototyping. What really drew me in was the pricing—these were a fraction of what equivalent boards cost in the US, even after taxes and shipping.

Delivery took around 12 days, which was faster than expected. All boards came neatly packaged in anti-static sleeves. I inspected each one, and every unit powered up without issue. Solder pads were clean, and the onboard USB-C connector felt solid, not flimsy like some knockoff boards.

Pros:

  • Insanely affordable in bulk

  • Fully compatible with Arduino IDE and MicroPython

  • Compact and breadboard-friendly

Cons:

  • No onboard debug interface (needs external programmer if you’re debugging bare-metal)

In comparison, similar boards like the Adafruit ItsyBitsy RP2040 retail around $9–$12 each in the US. That’s over 3x the price of this pack. Definitely met—and exceeded—my expectations.

🔌 RP2040-Tiny USB-C Dev Board

The RP2040-Tiny caught my eye thanks to its ultra-compact size and onboard USB-C connector. I needed something minimal to embed into a wearables project and this little board looked perfect.

Shipping was painless—arrived in 2 weeks. It worked right out of the box with Arduino IDE after selecting the correct board profile. Flashing via USB-C was seamless.

Pros:

  • Truly tiny footprint (ideal for wearables or space-constrained builds)

  • USB-C power and programming

Cons:

  • Lacks castellated edges for reflow use

  • No onboard LED

At about $3.50 per unit, it’s far cheaper than any similar-sized dev board in the US. This was a smart purchase.

🧠 RP2040 Pro Micro Development Board

I grabbed the RP2040 Pro Micro as a drop-in replacement for my aging Pro Micro ATmega32U4 boards. This one stood out because it brings the modern RP2040 chip into a familiar form factor.

I liked that it had pin labels printed clearly on the silkscreen—makes prototyping much faster. Power regulation was stable and no USB brownout issues during Serial uploads.

Pros:

  • Stable 3.3V and 5V rails

  • Great form factor compatibility

Cons:

  • No onboard flash button (needs manual reset sometimes)

Price-wise, it cost under $5—compare that to SparkFun’s Pro Micro RP2040 which retails at around $10. Worth it!

🔄 Seeeduino XIAO BLE Sense (nRF52840)

I’ve been meaning to dive into BLE with sensor fusion, and the XIAO BLE Sense was the obvious choice. Built-in accelerometer, gyro, mic, and BLE—all in one tiny board.

It shipped fast and came in excellent condition. I was pleasantly surprised by how polished it felt—like a premium board from Adafruit or SparkFun.

Pros:

  • Rich onboard sensors

  • BLE support with nRF Connect and Arduino BLE

Cons:

  • BLE examples aren’t beginner-friendly

It’s usually priced $10–12 on AliExpress versus $16–18 in the US. 100% met expectations.

🧩 RP2040-Zero Microcontroller (Again)

I ordered this second batch of RP2040-Zero modules just to keep in stock. The consistency was impressive—same packaging, same solder quality.

It’s become my go-to board for building small sensor nodes or driving stepper motors for small robotics.

Still highly recommend it.

🌐 Seeed XIAO ESP32C6/ESP32C3 Dev Boards

I bought the XIAO ESP32C6 & ESP32S3 kit because I needed both Zigbee and WiFi/BLE capabilities. The small size combined with ESP32’s wireless chops made it a compelling pick.

They flashed with PlatformIO right away. Signal strength was strong, and the boards ran cool under load.

Pros:

  • Tiny size + huge feature set

  • Multiple chip options in one set

Cons:

  • No headers included

At ~$6–$7 each, they’re a no-brainer vs. US boards at $12+.

🧬 Raspberry Pi Pico 2 RP2350 / RP2040 Board

The Pi Pico RP2350 board offers a 520KB SRAM boost and RISC-V dual core support. I got it mainly out of curiosity and for future RISC-V tinkering.

Setup was smooth, and it’s backward-compatible with most RP2040 projects. I’m still exploring its full potential but so far, very pleased.

Pros:

  • More powerful than original Pico

  • Still breadboard-friendly

Cons:

  • Not as widely supported yet

Price was just under $5—unheard of for a board this capable.

💡 Seeed XIAO RP2350 Dev Board

Another addition to my XIAO collection. This XIAO RP2350 version offers low power consumption and high GPIO flexibility.

What I appreciated most was the onboard RGB LED and clean solder joints. Plug-and-play with MicroPython and Arduino.

Pros:

  • Low power (ideal for battery apps)

  • RGB LED = instant visual debugging

Cons:

  • No battery connector

For $4, it’s an excellent value and outperforms several $10 boards I’ve used.

This Mini RP2040 Board mimics the popular ProMicro layout and fits snugly into my older custom PCBs. I used it to update a macro keypad project.

It worked right away with CircuitPython. Build quality was solid, and the USB connector felt tight and sturdy.

Pros:

  • Compatible form factor

  • Reliable upload/reset process

Cons:

  • No onboard LED

It’s about $3.75, while a similar board on Amazon runs $9+. Total win.

🛠️ RP2040 Zero Raspberry Pi Pico SuperMini

This SuperMini RP2040 is my new favorite board for ultracompact builds. I embedded it inside a small enclosure with a LiPo charger.

Everything worked right out of the box. It’s the same RP2040 core in a footprint that’s almost half the size of a Pico.

Pros:

  • Super small

  • Fully Arduino compatible

Cons:

  • No mounting holes

Still, it’s under $4 and beats any compact US option in value.

Overall Verdict

This order blew away my expectations. Every board arrived intact, functioned properly, and cost 50–70% less than the same models sold in the US. I didn’t expect this level of consistency and quality from such affordable boards on AliExpress. I would absolutely recommend these products—especially the XIAO BLE Sense, the RP2040-Zero, and the RP2040 Pro Micro.

I’ve already bookmarked a few more RP2040 and ESP32 variants for future orders. Looks like AliExpress just became my default dev board supplier.
