LYZRC L900 PRO 4K GPS Drone
I picked up the LYZRC L900 PRO after watching tons of videos comparing entry-level 4K drones under $150. This one stood out for its foldable design, 4K dual cameras, GPS functionality, and brushless motors, which sounded like features you’d expect on a $300+ drone in the US.
Delivery was fast — about 12 days to my home in California — and it came well-packaged with a spare set of blades, a USB charging cable, and a compact controller. The drone felt lightweight but not cheap.
In use, this drone was an absolute surprise. It connects to your phone via 5G Wi-Fi, and the FPV feed was smoother than I expected at this price. The GPS return-to-home feature worked reliably during my three tests. I’ve flown it in mild wind and it held position pretty well. The 4K video isn’t cinema-quality, but for casual outdoor shots, it’s crisp and stable enough. Battery gave me 22 minutes — accurate to what was advertised.
Pros: ✔ Affordable price for GPS + 4K dual camera setup ✔ Smooth app interface and decent range (~800m) ✔ Stable brushless motors ✔ Compact and foldable
Cons: ✘ No gimbal — so movement can affect footage ✘ Camera angles are fixed and need manual adjustment
For under $100, it honestly punches way above its class. A similar feature set in the US (like a DJI Mini SE or Holy Stone HS720E) would cost at least 2–3x more. This drone definitely met — and even exceeded — my expectations for the price.
US $62.83

GT3 8K GPS Drone with Obstacle Avoidance
This one intrigued me because of the 8K camera claim and the unique 180° rotating dual-camera setup. I also wanted to test the obstacle avoidance tech, which is rare in budget drones.
It arrived in about 15 days. Out of the box, the drone looks sleek and feels more premium than most sub-$120 models. Setup was easy. The controller is ergonomic and has a smartphone holder built in.
During my flights, the front obstacle avoidance sensor definitely helped — the drone would slow down or slightly change direction near trees. The video from the “8K” camera is more like high-quality 1080p, which I expected. Still, the angle rotation makes for dynamic shots. The app is simple to use and didn’t crash during flight. I got about 20–22 minutes of air time per charge.
Pros: ✔ Functional obstacle avoidance for basic navigation ✔ Dual rotating camera with decent clarity ✔ Foldable and backpack-friendly ✔ Great signal strength and control range
Cons: ✘ “8K” claim is misleading ✘ Slight lag in video feed beyond 300 meters ✘ No mechanical gimbal
Considering it cost me under $90, and similar drones with obstacle sensors in the US retail at around $200–250, I’m not mad at all. Expectations were met for what I paid — just don’t expect true 8K.
US $16.18

KBDFA S2S Mini Drone with Obstacle Avoidance
I grabbed this one as a gift for my nephew (age 12), and it turned out to be a solid beginner drone. It’s palm-sized, super light, and foldable. The 4K/8K camera marketing is more hype than reality, but I was looking for something fun, not cinematic.
It showed up in about two weeks in a compact box with clear instructions. First impression: it looks like a mini DJI. Took about 10 minutes to get it flying. Controls are responsive, and the drone has simple take-off/landing and headless mode functions, great for kids or first-time flyers.
The camera feed was okay for what it is — more like a 720p webcam. The infrared obstacle avoidance actually worked indoors, especially against walls. My nephew was obsessed with how it would stop or turn when approaching a surface.
Pros: ✔ Very lightweight and safe for indoor use ✔ Great for kids or absolute beginners ✔ Responsive and easy to control ✔ Decent battery life (12–14 minutes)
Cons: ✘ Video resolution is far from 4K ✘ Struggles outdoors in wind ✘ Build quality is very plastic-y
At around $30, this was an excellent value. Most drones in this price range in the US don’t come with even pretend obstacle sensors. Perfect gift drone — expectations met.
US $41.71

L600 PRO MAX 4K Drone with 3-Axis Gimbal
I was curious to try something with a real mechanical gimbal and this one claimed to have a 3-axis system plus GPS and 5KM range, all for around $110. That sounded too good to be true.
Shipping took just under two weeks. This drone feels more robust than others in this range. I charged it up and went out to a local park. The GPS locked within 30 seconds and the gimbal immediately impressed me — super stable footage, even with sudden movements.
The drone held altitude well and reacted to commands promptly. I pushed it out to about 800 meters, and video remained clear with almost no lag. Return-to-home worked spot-on. The included controller is a bit bulky, but functional.
Pros: ✔ Real 3-axis gimbal for buttery-smooth video ✔ Long-range capabilities ✔ Excellent stability in mild wind ✔ Dual 4K camera system with adjustable angles
Cons: ✘ 5KM range is theoretical — 1KM+ is more realistic ✘ Slight delay in app responsiveness ✘ Camera sensor still not pro-level quality
For a similar setup in the US — think DJI Mini 2 with a gimbal — you’d easily pay $300–400. This drone delivered 90% of that experience for under a third of the price. Absolutely exceeded my expectations.
US $67.27

V168 Max Drone with Large Screen Remote
This one caught my eye because of the unique LCD controller and bold claims of 8K video + 5KM range. I thought the idea of having a built-in screen might be handy for flying without using my phone.
Arrived in 13 days. The packaging was well done, and everything was intact. The controller screen is bright and clear — very useful in bright sunlight. No app installation was necessary, and I could get up in the air within 5 minutes.
The drone itself flew smoothly. The dual-camera feature allowed quick toggling between views. Again, the “8K” is more of a selling point than a reality, but the footage is bright and better than expected for a budget device. Flight range was strong (around 1KM), and battery gave around 20 minutes.
Pros: ✔ Integrated screen in the controller — huge convenience ✔ Easy to launch and control ✔ Strong battery life and stable flight ✔ Foldable and travel-friendly
Cons: ✘ Resolution closer to 1080p than 8K ✘ No gimbal, so movement affects footage ✘ Not for high winds
Compared to US drones with integrated screens (think Autel Evo Lite or similar), this is a great low-cost alternative. For under $100, I wasn’t expecting miracles — but I got a very flyable, enjoyable product.
US $108.88

Xiaomi Mijia V198MAX Professional Drone
I went for this one last because of the “Laser Obstacle Avoidance” and Xiaomi branding. I trust Xiaomi from other electronics, and this drone had a lot of positive buzz.
Shipping was 11 days, which was the fastest of the bunch. Right out of the box, you can feel the build quality is a step above. The drone has a sleek matte finish, and the obstacle sensor on top actually looks high-tech.
Flying it was a breeze. It connected to the app quickly, and the obstacle avoidance was accurate — it hovered and rerouted around benches and tree branches. The camera captured clear 4K video, and it felt closer to true 2.7K or better in reality. Stability during flight was excellent, even during breezy conditions.
Pros: ✔ Excellent build and Xiaomi reliability ✔ Functional laser-based avoidance ✔ Stable 4K video with decent detail ✔ Foldable, easy to carry
Cons: ✘ Gimbal is electronic, not mechanical ✘ Some app features locked behind firmware updates ✘ Price is slightly higher than others (~$120)
Even then, compared to a $350+ US drone with similar features, this Xiaomi option gives you huge value. I’m honestly impressed.
US $117.64
Overall Impressions
AliExpress surprised me — in a good way. I didn’t expect much at these price points, but nearly all of the drones delivered beyond my expectations. Most had real, functional GPS, decent cameras, and impressive flight stability. Sure, the “8K” claims are marketing fluff, but even so, the value here is hard to beat.
I’d definitely recommend these products to anyone starting out with drones or looking for budget-friendly options that don’t feel like toys. Yes, I’ll be buying more — especially from brands like Xiaomi and LYZRC. Just make sure to manage expectations, read reviews, and know what you’re paying for.
