PL2303HX USB to UART TTL Cable Module
I needed a reliable USB-to-serial converter for a DIY project with an Arduino Nano clone that lacked a built-in USB interface. The PL2303HX USB to UART TTL Cable caught my attention due to the thousands of orders and positive reviews. For under $3 shipped, it seemed like a no-brainer.
Using it was smooth—my Windows 10 machine recognized the device immediately after I installed the Prolific driver (the genuine one, not the auto-installed version). I used it to flash firmware onto a few ESP8266 modules, and it worked without any hiccups.
Pros: ✔️ Comes pre-wired with 4-pin connectors (TX, RX, VCC, GND) ✔️ Stable connection, no signal drops ✔️ Color-coded wires ✔️ Dirt cheap compared to $8–$10 options from Amazon or Micro Center
Cons: ❌ Needs driver tweaking on Windows ❌ Cable insulation feels thin
For the price, it exceeded expectations. It’s 3–4x cheaper than local alternatives and does the exact same job.
US $1.19

Kodak U3 Micro SD Card (128GB)
I was skeptical about buying memory cards from AliExpress, but the Kodak U3 Class 10 Micro SD had legit branding and speed specs. I needed extra storage for my GoPro Hero 8, and the promise of 100MB/s speeds and UHS-1 compatibility drew me in.
Testing it showed read speeds around 88MB/s and write speeds of 60MB/s—not quite the 100MB/s claim, but definitely fast enough for 4K video.
Pros: ✔️ Real capacity and solid speeds ✔️ Comes with SD adapter ✔️ Excellent for action cameras and drones ✔️ Price was $8 cheaper than the same card on Amazon
Cons: ❌ Slight variance in speed ❌ Packaging looked generic
It definitely met expectations—and considering it’s a genuine Kodak product, it’s a steal.
US $3.71

Mini TF Card 64MB–512MB for CCTV
I bought the 64MB TF Card mostly out of curiosity and nostalgia, plus I have an old digital photo frame and an even older CCTV DVR system that require tiny-capacity cards. These are nearly impossible to find in the US.
To my surprise, the cards work perfectly, and the capacity is accurate. Speed isn’t impressive, but that’s expected for such small-capacity cards. They’re perfect for storing firmware or transferring ultra-light data.
Pros: ✔️ Real capacities ✔️ Low price (under $2 each!) ✔️ Good compatibility with legacy devices
Cons: ❌ Super slow write speeds (~1MB/s) ❌ Feels fragile
Considering the price and niche use case, they surpassed my expectations.
US $1.19

Trimui Smart Pro Handheld Console
This one was a splurge. The Trimui Smart Pro retro console caught my eye with its RGB lighting, sleek design, and Linux-based system. I’ve been collecting handhelds and needed something lightweight yet powerful.
Out of the box, the experience is premium. The 4.96” IPS screen is vibrant, the buttons feel responsive, and the UI is surprisingly polished. Pre-installed emulators run flawlessly up to PS1 and some light N64.
Pros: ✔️ Excellent screen and sound ✔️ Expandable storage ✔️ Clean Linux OS ✔️ Can install RetroArch
Cons: ❌ Not for heavy-duty PSP/DS games ❌ Some emulators need tweaking
It exceeded expectations, especially for under $90. Equivalent handhelds in the US cost $130+.
US $89.5

Fuers 5MP IP Camera (Tuya)
I wanted an affordable indoor IP cam to monitor my cat and front entrance. The Fuers 5MP Tuya-compatible camera seemed like a solid pick.

Pros: ✔️ Sharp image ✔️ Night vision + motion tracking ✔️ Two-way audio ✔️ Works with Smart Life/Tuya
Cons: ❌ Doesn’t support RTSP ❌ Slight lag on 5GHz WiFi
This camera beat expectations for just $18. US equivalents (e.g., Wyze or Blink) start at $30–$40.

Pros: ✔️ Real plug-and-play ✔️ Works with Files app ✔️ No app needed ✔️ Compact and lightweight

Pros: ✔️ Decent bass for its size ✔️ Splash-proof design ✔️ Built-in FM radio ✔️ Easy pairing

3000-in-1 Mega Genesis Game Card
This Mega Genesis 3000-in-1 cartridge was pure nostalgia bait. I use it on my original Sega Mega Drive. It came with a 4GB card preloaded with games and a plastic case.
Booted instantly, and while some games are duplicates, I still got 500+ unique titles. Save states work, and emulation is accurate.
Pros: ✔️ Plug-and-play ✔️ Great library of classics ✔️ Compatible with original hardware
Cons: ❌ Some games are in Chinese ❌ Duplicates inflate the count
Still, it delivered more than I expected for $18. Retro cartridges in the US easily cost double.
US $18.77

Mini SD TF Card for iPhone/iPad (OTG Reader)
I picked this up as a backup Lightning card reader, and it’s a twin to the earlier one but slightly larger. Same functionality, but with a sleeker finish and better heat dissipation.
Worked on iOS 16 flawlessly. Also tried it on my iPad, and it allowed me to copy and view GoPro footage directly.
Pros: ✔️ Slim design ✔️ Stable iOS compatibility ✔️ Handles 4K files easily
Cons: ❌ Cap doesn’t fit snugly ❌ Slower than official Apple SD reader
Still, for $6, it’s a solid tool for mobile editing workflows.
US $1.19
Overall Impression
Honestly, I didn’t expect this much quality for the prices I paid. All 10 items either met or exceeded my expectations. Delivery took about 10–15 days on average, which was reasonable. I’d recommend each of these if you’re a tech DIYer, gamer, or just like good deals. AliExpress surprised me this time—and yes, I’ve already got a new cart full of stuff.
